[edit] Search results open in new window
Insert the ^ (Shift 6) character at the start of a global search and a new window with the search results will open.
[edit] Search by Record Type
Sometimes it is important to limit the types of records returned in a global search. You can achieve this by prefixing your search string with the abbreviated record type and delimiter. For example searching for the vendor "Access Doors" you could use the search "ve:access" which would return vendors with the word "access" in their title.
- con: - Contact
- cu: - Customer
- le: - Lead
- pa: - Partner
- pr: - Prospect
- ve: - Vendor
- op: - Opportunity
- a: - Assembly Build
- b: - Bill, bill credit and bill payments
- cash:- Cash Sale and Cash Refund
- ch: - Check
- invo:- Invoice
- jo: - Journal
- pu: - Purchase order
If you are expecting a single result for your search and want to open the record in edit mode, capitalise the first letter of the abbreviation. For example using the search "Ve:access" would open the vendor "Access Doors" in edit mode.
Note: If you have customized the field names you will need to use the first two or three letters of the customized name. Example: Searching for donors (a charity might rename customers to donors) you would use do: instead of cu:
